BHX – CDG
It was time to catch my 5th flight of the year and this time for deserved escape from reality. My out of office was on and I was ready for my Disney adventure to begin.
The main purpose for this trip was a girls weekend with my friend (who is even more Disney mad than I am) and to experience Electroland. This is a music event where the best DJ’s play in the Walt Disney Studio’s park, it is one of the craziest events I’ve attended – and I absolutely loved it.
I will be writing a separate post for all things Electroland, I will post this soon.
Back to the beginning. Although we made it through airport security in good time, it did not go without the stress. The security queues were horrendous and this wasn’t helped by the sheer amount of people who got things wrong, leaving liquids in their bags, not presenting electronic devices etc – meaning that the security teams were opening and double-checking nearly every bag after it had been scanned. It’s times like this where I have to remember to just breathe, its short term pain for long term gain of the holiday memories.
Once into departures, we found a spot to sit down and get a little breakfast, and brought a few last minute essentials (suncream etc) before boarding the flight. The flight was a breeze; it felt like we were in the air for minutes before we began our decent into Paris. Better yet, the Eiffel Tower was visible on our way in, and the excitement levels hit new heights.
We travelled with just our cabin bags and honestly travelling light is great. I find that I relax much more knowing I have my stuff by my side and that I can whiz in and out of the airport.
My friend had booked us a seat in 1st class on the train to Marne la Vallee Chessy station. A 10 minute train ride and we were on the edge of the Disney parks by lunchtime. First things first, we needed to check into our hotel, get changed and head on into the park. The sun was shining, it was 29 degrees and our trip got in full swing with the castle reveal. Ok, I will be honest – I cried when I saw the castle. The Disneyland Park has a special place in my heart and the last time I visited was in 2017, where my fiancé proposed to me. It was so special and it felt amazing to be back.
I love been on Mainstreet USA, walking towards the castle with a spring in my step as the Disney music plays.
We spent the afternoon, walking around and enjoying the atmosphere. A Disney holiday isn’t typically relaxing but this afternoon was just that. It was a relief to be at leisure and to be in the happiest place on earth. We brought Ice cream, sat on Main Street and watched the Jungle Book Jive.
After spending a few hours wandering the park and taking photos. It was time to make our way back to the hotel, the first night of Electroland awaited us.
Here are some of my favourite shots from day 1📸🏰📍:
